About Zach

Like most craft beer enthusiasts, I’ve been enjoying unique brews for almost two decades. My first drink was not an American Light or other domestic; it was a Raspberry Wheat (shoutout to Mountain Town Brewing Company out of Mount Pleasant, MI). Ever since, I’ve been hooked, trying out every style I can get my mouth around.

I’ve been blessed to live and work in Michigan, the “mecca” of craft beer, as a brewer in Minneapolis recently described it to me. In my time as a God-fearing, beer-drinking adult, my wife and I have explored much of our fair state and enjoyed many of the over 400 breweries here. She loves beer too, and we love to share our adventures with all of you on Instagram.

For us, drinking beer is more than just something to do; it’s a hobby! Whether enjoying a tall one on our back deck or kayaking around Traverse City to hit different breweries with our friends, beer is part of our lives. Honestly, isn’t that the way it is for most people?

Writing & News

In 2022, the podcast and website Better On Draft asked for beer reviewers. After finding some like-minded folks, I decided to try writing articles about this magical liquid we all love so much. Much to my (lack of) surprise, I enjoyed it immensely!

Writing and getting to know the beer industry has been a ton of fun, and I look forward to telling the story of more beer, beer events, and breweries in the future. Here are a few of the articles I’ve done for other places. Currently, I am writing for PorchDrinking.com.
